Watch out Julian Assange!

The Pentagon’s No. 2 official awarded the Navy’s first batch of “information dominance warfare” pins to seven officers at the Naval Academy on Friday. “You’re at the cutting edge of what we’re trying to do,” Deputy Defense Secretary William Lynn told the newly-pinned officers. “You’re at the forefront of a real trend in warfare and in the way we’re going to handle security.” Reports that he promptly ordered them to hunt down and destroy WikiLeaks’ unreleased archives couldn’t immediately be confirmed.

China’s ‘Security Dilemma’ Risks Arms Race in Asia

TOKYO – A shooting war with China may not be inevitable, but a dangerous arms escalation seems a dead certainty. That’s the take from a rare public discussion here this week among naval experts from Japan, the U.S. and China.

Can someone tell me what the fascination with this guy is? He traffics in stolen confidential documents, so put him in jail. Big deal. Another thing I don’t get is painting him to be a liberal. I don’t know of any liberals who think this guy is any sort of hero. This guy seems so far left that comparing him to a liberal would be like comparing a republican to being a fascist. For the sake of intelligent discourse between people of divergent idealogy, those of a conservative bent should drop the comparison if they would like not to be compared in the same vein.

    .
Oh but that won’t ever happen while the Pacifist Pretender from Kenya is in charge. I’m sure him and all the treehugging libtards want to take away my 2nd amendment right to have an Electron Obliterator in the first place (which I’m going to order from Amazon as soon as I’m done here).

    .
Good old George, the Godfather of the Liberal Movement. Why are we not surprised that George is involved with Assange. But George loves America, just not as an independent country. George is a pure leftist and wants a new world order under Socialism and a one world government.

If Assange is not a liberal why is Sores coming to his defense?

    International Subversives
    .
    The Wahington Times
    December 1, 2010
    .
WikiLeaks leak-meister is confirmed anti-American leftist
Hardly a word has been written or spoken about the motives of the WikiLeaks’ chief leaker. Australia’s 39-year-old Julian Assange was 19 years old when the Cold War ended.
    .
His parents were well-known on the left and ran a touring theater company. His mother remarried in 1979 to a man who belonged to a controversial New Age group. In the late 1980s, Mr. Assange was a member of a crack hacker team that called itself International Subversives.
    .
Australian acquaintances say he was bitterly disappointed by the outcome of the Cold War with a resounding global victory for the United States and its allies. Mr. Assange then began identifying with the defeated “progressives,” from the pensioned-off millions – on starvation stipends – of the old Soviet nomenklatura to the innocent dupes who never realized that the World Peace Council was a KGB-controlled organization (documented in post-Cold War Russian files that opened briefly before the KGB’s successor organization sealed them again).
    .
There are tens of millions in both the Third and First worlds (e.g., former Communist Party members and their “progressive” fans) who firmly believe the “evil empire” is the United States with what even leading Wall Streeters – e.g., Pete Peterson – call “animalistic and carnivorous capitalism.”
    .
The post-Cold War generation of “progressives” – the word that once gave communists respectability the world over – likes to cite Karl Marx’s prediction that capitalism eventually would sow the seeds of its own destruction. They also welcome anything that weakens the United States. Their new hero is Mr. Assange.
    .
The world’s most repressive regimes – e.g., Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, North Korea – are the least of Mr. Assange’s concerns. The fount of all evil, as he sees the world, is the United States.
    .
WikiLeaks’ master leaker, who clearly relishes anything that hurts the United States, is a throwback to Vietnam-era haters who despised the U.S. government and happily smeared America’s image throughout the world.
    .
Mr. Assange’s media partners in the Western world were selected with one yardstick: impeccable liberal credentials. The Washington Post wasn’t liberal enough – and got squeezed out in favor of the New York Times, along with France’s Le Monde, Britain’s Guardian, Germany’s Spiegel and Spain’s El Pais.
    .
Whatever a U.S. diplomat hears or says in conversations with local government officials and colleagues from other countries now runs the risk of being published and read by thousands of people from dozens of countries. Such conversations are bound to be governed by the fear of public exposure. America’s diplomatic relations with friends and allies, Mr. Assange will be pleased to hear, have been severely damaged. Not permanently, but at least for a while.
    .
Some say Mr. Assange does not seem to understand that the United States is still the behind-the-scenes catalyst for resolving tough regional and global issues. And that he has made it harder to resolve critical issues around the world by making the U.S. a less trusted interlocutor. The flip side of the coin says “International Subversives.” They seek global chaos to spawn a New World Order. It’s also called the totalitarian temptation, which has existed from time immemorial.

He could be the world’s most renowned electronic terrorist…or extortionist at very least. He thinks truth wins out, forget respoinsibility or who it may hurt individually. If he was so cock-sure what he’s doing is right, why does he have to hide?

funny how those claiming to love freedom have no problem with the government spying on its own citizens without warrants, torturing and waging aggressive war, but heaven forbid anyone spy back, or reveal the terrible secrets of such stalwart friends of democracy as putin, the house of saud and bank of america.

no matter: it’s too late, assange has already won. enjoy your soon-to-be-unencrypted files. tick tick tick….

  • benjoya

oh, and for those slaves to binary thinking who think assange is an anarchist or a ‘far leftist’ (whatever TF that means), he seems to me more a radical transparency activist. more here.

Alas, we can’t win the World Cup. Then again, why does the rest of the world call The Boring Game football? Two groups of people running around kicking each other’s balls? Feh. It’s only interesting when women pull their tops off after kicking winning goals. Getting tougher to win beauty pageants too, F U Venezuela. (okay, this is snark, I actually do follow futbol a lot. It is interesting to see your posts – they always show how uninformed you are. You should try reading or watching the news. You will find out that the President condemned the leaks and expressed deep concern. You apparently have an ingrown hair up your === when it comes to the President.

  • http://erieangel.wordpress.com erieangel

What a way to twist the facts. Soros isn’t coming Assange’s defense, an attorney who has Soros as a client is also taking Assange as a client. Big deal. You make it sound as if an attorney can have only one client at a time. If that were the case, hiring one would be far more expensive than it is now.

    Watch out Julian Assange!
    .
Such flippancy. I wonder, Mark Thompson, why you have such disdain for someone who is shedding some much needed light on our government’s activities, some secret, some just morally reprehensible. Isn’t that your role, too?
    .
Oh, wait, Assange is engaging in treason, I forget. Never mind that he’s not American, never mind that he himself hasn’t engaged in any theft or espionage. He’s simply releasing information passed on to him. How utterly subversive of him, yea?

  • Art Pepper

The media is so reflexively opposed to WikiLeaks. It’s quite interesting.

  • liberalmeltdown

Assange threatens to release damaging information to save his ass from being arrested for rape charges and all the leftists here can do is show support for him. He’s puts you and the rest of the country in danger and threatens to do more and you are so stupid that you can’t see past the left wing nuts in front of your eyes.

  • michaelfury
  • Exiled_At_Home (formerly Neo)

First of all, Julian Assange is now in custody in Britain. He turned himself in.
    .
Now, his release of documents is damaging for who, exactly? Is it not our duty to always hold our government accountable and to limit the powers and secrecy in which our government operates? Is it not beneficial, both in terms of an aware public and a restrained government, that abuses, such as those noted in Wikileaks Afghan and Iraq Diaries, are brought to light? You seem to be more outraged at the messenger, Assange, than at those who have actually crossed moral and legal lines in the name of our country. That seems puzzlingly misguided.

  • liberalmeltdown

I have serious reservations about what liberals call moral and legal lines. Since they like to constantly move the line depending on whether they agree or disagree. Hence the name: progressive.
    .
I don’t think it serves our national interest, that means the safety, prosperity, health, liberty of the American people to have our strategy of pursuing the war on terror published. Leftists want to be anti war no matter what, and they don’t care if it makes America more vulnerable to attack.
    .
There is nothing in the documents that is important to US citizens. There are lots of things in there that helps our enemies. Or, maybe you just can’t bring yourself to think about people that want to blow you up.
