There’s a question mark at the end because its not exactly clear why someone would present this information in this way, but it sure seems that they are trying to put a focus on the cost. Especially when the post opens with a slam on capitalism and the American way of life:

1- From the construction of the sentence it was clear that the author was not associational the frivolous spending at best buy with that of the military’s, just pointing out that the cost to equip soldiers has gone up as well and linking it to a day associated with spending in the publics mind (did you miss his reference to the life saving body armor or the fire resistant undergarments, the author included these so the readers would get that the majority of this increased spending is on necessities, and not frivolous). The point of this post is to show how military spending has changed, and thus you can’t say “well in 2000 they only spent $2000 per solider, now its over $7000, we should cut back”. It is actually a rebuttal to many liberal contention that military spending should be cut, not an insult to the military.

2-Your partisan reading indicates that you aren’t interested in facts or discussion (as does your school yard insults and taunts) but trying to make yourself feel better by attacking/ bullying/ belittling others. Are you really that insecure that you feel the need to attack other without provocation to show how macho you are? I have seen many like you in my years in sports, you could always tell the weak link on the opposing line or the wrestler who would crack under pressure by their level of mouthiness.

Oh and by the way, since this post was placed at 8:48 EST and many of the readers are in this time zone it is not surprising that they assumed you were too. Not true. Reread the first paragraph. You can try to see it in a neutral light, but the fact is thetone is a slam on capitalism, materialism and spending money. The reference to saving lives is buried a few paragraphs down and mentioned only in passing.

If I had written this post it would be the other way around; a focus on the lives saved and the businesses that are helped and a passing reference to the minimal cost, a few paragraphs down.

I have no condescension for conservatives if they speak from a base of knowledge with facts to support their position.
